WIN7PE SE - Help please: "net time" issue

net time win7pe se access denied

Best Answer Wonko the Sane , 16 July 2013 - 01:39 PM

Does also Net View return the same error?

I would check time:

http://support.micro...kb/307897/en-us

and the “LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy”:

Please note how all the above is about XP, but 7 (or a 7 PE) shouldn't be that much different

Hi everyone,

Long time user/lurker, first time poster.. This issue has forced my hand to make an account...

So... Log available: http://ge.tt/7JhEhtl/v/0 (MHT web archive ~5Mb)

I've got an issue with the "Net Time" command where it bombs out with a "System Error 5 has occurred. Access is Denied" when issuing the command (net time \\Server /set /y) ..

The time server has been tested with other machines (that are not on the domain) and works fine. This command will eventually be in an automated script.

At first I thought it was due to the windows time service (W32time) that hadn't started.. started it, same problem..

Now I'm thinking it has something to do with permissions and or rights?

Switched out to admin, but issue still occurs.

Could someone try to replicate my issue and tell me I'm not going crazy?

And if anyone has a resolution, or just simply an answer that it won't work that would be great!

Thanks in advance,

IAY

Hi Wonko,

Thanks for the reply...

Net view was not generating the same error..

LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy did not change the result

However with your help I've solved the problem..

I mapped the IPC$ share of the time server and it then started to synchronise!

Cheers.

IAY
