Download ScreenResEx.exe 2.0.0
screen resolution
3
ScreenResEx.exe changes the screen resolution inside a running PE.
It can also work in a live OS, but here you usually have enough system tools to set the resolution.
ScreenResEx.exe is independent from the user interface of the used video driver, and works also, when the right click into the desktop does not give you the possibility to change the display resolution.
Known (pseudo)issue: When used in a Virtual Machine, ScreenResEx.exe does not change the resolution visibly, it only changes the size of the displayed VM window.
ScreenResEx.exe can be started in several ways.
ScreenResEx.exe can only change to a resolution, which is supported by the current active video driver.
It cannot change to each of all resolutions which are supported by the video hardware.
That gives e.g. for a simple VGA driver or for the VBEMP driver only a few possible resolutions.
To have more resolutions available, the user has to add a driver for the actual video hardware to the PE.
A WinBuilder script for adding this tool to a PE, can be found here: http://reboot.pro/fi...solutionscript/

ScreenResEx.exe can be started in several ways.
- ScreenResEx.exe Max
Sets highest possible screen resolution - ScreenResEx.exe Auto
Sets highest possible screen resolution due to physical monitor Width / Height ratio
When the necessary information about the physical monitor is not contained in the registry, 'Auto' is mapped to 'Max' - ScreenResEx.exe <X-Pixels> x <Y-Pixels>
Sets this screen resolution - ScreenResEx.exe GUI
Starts a GUI to let the user make the choice
